Initial Inquiry & Zoom Meeting

Client reaches out to Blanc Slate; Blanc Slate team member Zooms with client to hear more about the project and explain our process; contract is issued to client and returned to Blanc Slate.

Phase I: Project Kick-Off (Week 1)

Within one week of signing the contract, the Blanc Slate team and the client will have a Kick-off Zoom, during which they will play a “This or That” game that provides an idea of the client’s vision for their home. At this time, the client also shares architectural plans, inspiration photos, and photos of existing house conditions through our online portal.

Phase II: Designs (Weeks 2-5)

The Blanc Slate team spends the next three weeks designing the client’s home. During week four, Blanc Slate ships samples and design boards to the clients so they can see and interact with the materials.

Phase III: Zoom Feedback (Week 6)

You provide feedback on the selections, including requests for any changes and an understanding of what you like and why.

Phase IV: Final Approval (Week 6-7)

After a short revision period, Blanc Slate delivers its final design.

Phase V: Final Deliverables (Week 7-8)

Blanc Slate delivers nationally available items, with links that make it easy for you or your builder to purchase, as well as a full FFE schedule.

FAQs

How does Blanc Slate work? Here, we provide answers to the Frequently Asked Questions we hear from our clients.

How long is the Blanc Slate process?

From kickoff meeting through to the final list of purchasable items, the Blanc Slate process is approximately 4-8 weeks long.

Does Blanc Slate purchase items for me?

No, Blanc Slate does not do any purchasing of products. The final selections will be in a detailed file that can be electronically submitted to you, your architect, or your builder for purchase. All items are sourced nationally and are easy to purchase. The file will note brand, item name, specs, and finishes.

How many meetings do I get with the team? Is there a way to see samples in person?

You will get two in-person or Zoom meetings with Blanc Slate: An initial kick-off meeting and a design presentation meeting. In addition, clients get 1-2 phone conversations (limited to 30 minutes) and ongoing email communication during the project period.

How do I express my style and explain my home/project to the Blanc Slate team?

During the Kickoff Meeting, you’ll be able to tell us about your project, budget, vision, and goals. We will share mood boards and a range of visuals to help get to the heart of your design style and what makes sense for your home, as well as follow-up via email with any additional questions and visuals.

Since Blanc Slate helps with surfaces, do they advise on cabinetry, color palette and wallpaper?

Blanc Slate does not advise on wallpaper and cabinetry, but we do provide inspiration and design direction for these items that you can then share with your builder/architect.

How can I be sure that Blanc Slate will work with my budget? What happens if we are approaching or going over budget?

With years of construction and design experience, the Blanc Slate team understands the importance of staying within, or very close to, a given budget. Our first design presentation includes options for the highest quality items – culled from our years as designers – with clear pricing information.

How does Blanc Slate handle measurements and drawings if they will not be visiting my home? Will they be in touch with my architect and contractor?

At the Kick-off Meeting, we will need to see your builder’s and/or architect’s drawings and plans, so we can understand placement in the home. As part of our Final Deliverable, we will provide an understanding for your builder/architect about how to execute our selections and how items work together, whether this is through drawings or a phone conversation.
